Who am I?
Who am I?… I am Sai Vinoba… Your friendly neighborhood geek. ( with apologies to my hero ’spiderman’!)
I am an Indian national staying in Bangalore.
I am a FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) enthusiast; zealot you may say. My primary interest is FOS S/w. My secondary interest is FOS philosophy. My tertiary interest is marketing FOS S/w and FOS philosophy to my friends and colleagues as much as I can…
Its not the ‘free of cost’ availability of high quality softwares that attracted me to FOSS. I got attracted to FOSS movement because it stood for the same ideal I always believed in – sharing knowledge for mutual benefit.
I always hated those who would attend tutorials or otherwise learn new things, new ways of solving problems but hide it from you. Either they would lie to you that they do not know anything or refuse outrightly to teach you anything-the latter are a lot better creed though!
Ofcourse, there are certain things that should not be shared- underwares, razors, gf/bf etc… But knowledge is something that should always be shared. Only exception may be the military classified information. Let me add here that I hate military.
Khalhil Gibran said ‘A candle loses nothing by lighting other candles’. How true! Lets share our knowledge. Its for mutual benifit.
